In October of 2018, the property was originally purchased by the current owners. At the time, was known as 11187 Womack Cemetery Rd. A dirt road without any drainage. Let’s just say what it looked like then, is nothing like it looks today. Just 6 years ago the current owners, a young married couple with no children, purchased the 4.22 acres of land. On it sat a 20 year old manufactured home, along side dilapidated sheds, beat up cars, and a thick canopy of woods that consumed all day light. The property was dark and wet. Above is an image taken October 2018. Below an image at the same spot in September 2024.
After purchasing the land, the owners immediately went to work on it. Their goal was to create an income producing homestead, that allowed them to build a life they loved while staying home. That vision became more real day by day. First, the land needed to be opened up by clearing back growth and cutting down select trees. Which in return allowed a lot more sunlight to penetrate the thick canopy. The trees that were cut became firewood for years to come. Some were also turned in to mulch to start building natural soils. Above is an image after some of the original clearing was done.

The first home, the Farm House, was installed the last week of December that year 2018. Select fill was brought in to build a solid foundation, all new copper electric was run, and a new aerobic septic system was put in. The owners moved in to the home January 2019. The land did not always have beautiful grass. The owners used mulch to make walkways through the mud to the home after all the clearing was done. A short time later they began bringing in new sod and building decks. Above are some of the images after install.

The 20 year old mobile home was moved early in 2019. This gave way to the new garden location. A perfect location on the property. The garden shed was next to be built. Then the planters boxes were all built not long after. The garden was ready to start growing food for a lifetime. A few years later, The back garden fence was pushed back. This made ample gourd space to grow more food. The garden was completed with a sprinkler system throughout. Above are a couple images of the progression.

Next was the chicken coop and animal progression. AKA the learning curves of never farming before. Youtube became the owners new best friend. Many coop systems were had. Many redesigns. Many lessons learned before the current system took shape. There’s been over 400 chickens, 30 ducks, 6 cows, 2 donkeys, 7 goats, 100’s of quail, to room this land. At one point even a milk cow for fresh daily milk. Above are some of the progression photos.

In July 2020, the shop building was erected and large slab put in. The building was originally designed to serve as a commercial gym. Allowing the owners to have their business, their food, and their life all in one place. 2 years in, the building started serving as a hangout location for Airbnb guests, and also half gym as well. It still serves this purpose today.

In July of 2020, the barn “shell” was put in as well. Originally used to house animals for a short period of time. In January of 2022, the barn started to become the studio. The owners moved in to the new custom studio August 2022. Allowing the opportunity to rent the farm house to families and large groups on the weekends.

Late 2020, there was a small pond dug to accommodate the ducks. The pond was dug much bigger and deeper 2 years later. At that point, a fountain was put in, and non invasive clumping bamboo was planted behind the pond. This would help with privacy and also the bamboo sticks are used often in the garden for staking/plant support.
